We had 2500 new students this semester... first semester students aren’t barred from bringing cars like in other unis, so they come in and park.... in droves. So it might become regular for a time...

You're lucky man, they won't let us use the faculty lots even though the Sophomore+ lots are overflowing with cars and people.

This was one of the reasons I commuted by bike when I was still in school. It’s not for everyone, but it was an excellent solution for me.

I want to bring my bike one day, but I’m scared of doing 20km and 300m uphill with heavy traffic and in some high speed roads.

Today at my work they were actually checking for parking permits at a major parking lot entrance!! It’s about time. Students seemed to run amok and park anywhere they felt like it last year because they knew there was little to no enforcement.

There’s also the issue of speed; right now in the morning it takes me 20 minutes to get to class at 7am; if I had another schedule near rush hour, I’d probably take closer to 45-60 and then the bike sounds more reasonable

My ride in college was about 20 minutes. It was easily 10 minutes longer in my truck, mostly because of traffic I could avoid while on the bike.

That sounds a lot more fun. Shamefully for me, I was the
lazy idiot
that didn’t apply to UNAM, which has better bike and public transport access than my actual college.
